Knutsford got back to winning ways on Saturday in their trip to Wilmslow. Captain Sarah Fielding decided the friendly was the perfect opportunity to try out a new diamond system in the midfield and it worked wonders.
Knutsford romped to a 5 – 1 victory over a team that were a league above them. The first goal was riffled into the top corner by Katie Allan, after Knutsford had fallen behind by some a good strike from the home side. Allan found herself some space and rasped her shot high in to the net; a shot worthy of any goal of the season prize! The second was added 5 minutes later when Allan cut the ball back to a free Sarah Feilding on the edge of the D, who sent a rocket of a shot into the bottom right corner.
A third was added a few minutes before the interval when a short corner shot by Allan, was picked up by Nat Riley, who squeezed the ball past the post to make it 3 – 1 Knutsford. The second half started in much the same vain for Wilmslow, when Knutsford carried on their relentless attacks. Girl of the Game Vicky Royale was finding her feet well during the second half, and added a fourth with a well timed run in to the D, and slotted home past the stranded keeper. A fifth goal made the assault complete when Nat Riley was played in by a great cutting pass by Kat Heine, Riley slotted home from close range to make it a great performance for the team in black.
