Who are we
Knutsford Hockey Club (KHC) was established in 1910 and is one of the oldest and most established sporting institutions in the town. It has been an important part of the social fabric of Knutsford for almost a century.
The Club currently has around one hundred active and social members. The membership is young (almost all are in the age range 18-35), vibrant and exclusively based in Knutsford and the surrounding towns.
The Club currently runs three regular Men’s teams and one Ladies’ side. These teams play in league and cup competitions throughout the North West, in locations as far afield as Lancaster and Bangor. The Men’s first team play in the prestigious North West First Division. We also run a junior side and participate in a mixed hockey league during the summer.
The Club has an active social calendar with at least one event per month. These events (such as an Annual Race Night) are advertised across the town and attract members and non-members alike.
Knutsford Hockey Club is looking to establish a mutually beneficial and on-going relationship with a local business. In return for support in the provision of sporting equipment, we will use our membership, profile and promotional activities to further our sponsor’s business goals.
The Club has big ambitions and we are in the process of planning a series of milestones up to and including our centenary in 2010. We are looking for a partner to join us on this journey.
What we have to offer
With its active membership and network of contacts, the Club has many intangible benefits to offer a bar or restaurant business in Knutsford. The majority of members have grown up in the local area and through their network of friends and acquaintances have links with every social and economic aspect of the town.
• Guarantee at least two KHC Social Functions in the bar or restaurant (40 plus people eating and drinking) during the course of the 2006/07 season.
• Actively promote attendance at the bar or restaurant after fixtures on a Saturday. On Saturday a proportion of the players socialize in Knutsford and generally eat out. To monitor this we will produce small cards bearing the sponsor’s name for regular distribution to club members. We will ask all club members to show these on visits to the bar or restaurant (and would ask that a small discount be granted in return).
• Put the sponsor’s logo on all club kit (transfer on the front of the shirt and possibly phone number if preferred). All members of KHC and spectators will see this. We also play in local areas like Alderley Edge, Holmes Chapel, Bowden, Hale and Northwich as well as throughout the North West (see the fixture list for each team elsewhere on the site).
• KHC has an excellent rapport with the Knutsford Guardian and we will arrange photos of the new kit (Sponsor) and combine this with the opening of the new pitch. This will be an event that will be featured on the sport pages in both the Knutsford Guardian and the Knutsford Express. We also have weekly reports of all four teams and these are published in the local press (occasionally with pictures) throughout the season.
• All KHC social events will be branded with the sponsor’s logo and our advertising posters etc that will go around the town.
• Put the sponsor’s logo on our website.
What we have to offer
As a club we are keen to build a relationship with a bar or restaurant in Knutsford in order to have a venue that we can support and that can support us.
Hockey players all individually pay more than £200 per year to play along with personal equipment (Sticks, balls, shorts and socks). However, what we are looking for is new shirts both home and away. We have contacted a number of shirt vendors and have received quotes ranging from £18-£29 per shirt (inclusive of all printing and VAT).
There are a number of options that we are looking at. There is a possibility that a sponsor would want to sponsor the Club as a whole and get total access to all of the benefits to the sponsor listed earlier in this document. There is also an option to just sponsor a team and have some of the benefits.
Clearly there is enormous room for negotiation for both parties but we are looking for a minimum investment of £500 in return for the benefits listed above.
